Pupils who attend school every day also form better relationships with their peers and staff.<br \/>\nPoor punctuality also has a detrimental effect on a child\u2019s learning. If a child is coming in to school late every day, they are missing the important start of a lesson and causing disruption to the class.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4876 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/deanfieldschool.co.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/att.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"558\" height=\"518\" srcset=\"https:\/\/deanfieldschool.co.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/att.jpg 558w, https:\/\/deanfieldschool.co.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/att-300x278.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 558px) 100vw, 558px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Our Attendance Officer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mrs Stansfield monitors attendance on a daily basis.\u00a0 If your child is unable to attend school due to illness or any other reason, then you should inform school before 9am. You can ring the school office on 01422 258258 and select option 1; a voicemail message can be left or you can speak directly to the office.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We work in partnership with our Education Welfare Officer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Geraldine Sharrat is our allocated Education Welfare Officer and she will be working closely with us to monitor attendance. If your child\u2019s attendance slips below 90% it is likely that you will receive\u00a0some form of communication from Geraldine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please help us improve our attendance by NOT taking your child on holiday during term time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are 175 days (weekends and school holidays) per year to use for family holidays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Punctuality<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nSchool opens at 8:30am<strong>.\u00a0<\/strong>Class registers are taken between 8:30am-8:45am.\u00a0 At<strong>\u00a08:45am\u00a0<\/strong>the registers are closed; any children arriving after this time must come and sign in through the main entrance, where they will be asked to provide a reason for the late arrival.\u00a0Arrivals after 8:45am will be marked late.
