Sports Funding
What is PE and Sports premium?
The government has provided funding of £150 million per annum since the academic year 2013/14 with a view to provide new and substantial primary school sport funding. The funding is jointly provided by the Department for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and sees the money going directly to Primary School Head-teachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their pupils. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
How will the funding be spent?
At Dean Field School, we have developed an action plan to ensure that the money is spent on initiatives which will have a long lasting impact on the future learning and physical development of children within our school.
We have purchased a new scheme of work – Real PE – to improve our children’s fundamental movement skills (agility, balance, and co-ordination). We also employ a sports coach/learning mentor to deliver our PE sessions across the school to ensure there is consistency in both the teaching and assessment of PE. In addition to this we have a dance teacher who visits us each week to teach a variety of different dance styles to pupils across the school as well as mindfulness techniques such as yoga.
We have also planned how we are to spend the 22020-2021 PE and Sports Premium.
Our vision
To provide children with a wide range of opportunities and resources to lead an active lifestyle to support our school ethos of ‘Learning without Limits’
